The most common foundation requiring the least amount of lot prep and usually preferred for a level or nearly level lot, a slab foundation is a single layer concrete poured directly on grade. Slab foundations are generally the most cost effective foundation and the most energy efficient.
Preferred for sloped or for level lots, crawl space foundations are elevated from 16” to four feet above the ground. This option facilitates unrestricted access to your home’s ductwork and wiring making repairs easier, is good for flood-prone areas, and often creates warmer floors.
